The Morning Nursery takes children who are aged 3 at the beginning of the school year. It operates from 9.00am until 12.00am.
Nursery children build on and develop the skills learnt in the Pre-Nursery and enjoy a staff:pupil ratio of 1:6.
They also participate in regular pottery, Dance/Drama, gardening and music sessions together with many varied activities relating to their learning in the Foundation Stage.
These include regular literacy and numeracy sessions in small groups of 8. In addition, children participate in a daily Circle Time and also spend time in the garden climbing, running, riding bikes and engaging in imaginative play!
Every year we admit 8 - 12 children into the Morning Nursery Class. If your child is on the waiting list for this class you will be contacted in the January before the intake date to confirm your continued interest in a possible place at the School. This will be followed by an invitation to visit the School and meet with Mary Fysh, before a place for your child can be confirmed.
We have very good links with prep schools in the Highgate/Hampstead areas. Each year a number of our Morning Nursery children join these schools including, inter alia, Channing School for Girls, The Village School, South Hampstead High School and The Hall School.
The School is a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and therefore the Independent Schools Inspectorate carries out regular inspections. The most recent Inspection took place in March 2009.
