Children join the Pre-Nursery class at the begiining of the term in which they have their 3rd birthday ('rising 3'). The class enables the children to experience their first schooling in a gentle and a nurturing environment with a staff ratio of 1:5.
The Pre-Nursery class is from 1.00pm to 3.00pm, Monday to Thursday.

The children engage in a range of activities designed to develop their emerging skills in areas such as fine and gross motor control, social awareness, speaking and listening ability and independence. This is a valuable preparation for Morning Nursery the following September. The children enjoy the full use of the playground - in the summer the whole session may be held outside, weather permitting.

There are 2 main points of intake to the Pre-Nursery Class, in September and January of each academic year. Occasionally there may be a very small intake in the April.
The September intake is for children born between 1 September and 31 December. In January, children born between 1 January and 31 March are admitted to the class. On rare occasions there is a small intake in April.
The children automatically join the Morning Nursery Class in the September after their Pre-Nursery year.
Children who leave the School after their Pre-Nursery Year go to either Highgate Pre-Preparatory school or join the Nursery Class in one of the local State Schools.

The School is a member of the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and therefore the Independent Schools Inspectorate carries out regular inspections. The most recent Inspection took place in March 2009.
